What So Miraculous about God

“Christian Reflection on God’s Wonderful Love”

 

The meaning of the word "miraculous" is: extraordinary, surprising, odd, strange, breathtaking, cannot be explained by reason.

 

What does God's word say about the miraculous of our God?

 

#1  Miraculous Deeds

 

Job 5:9 (NIV)

He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.

 

We hear about miracle stories everywhere.

 

But based on the meaning of the word "miracle" is: "odd, strange, surprising, cannot be explained by reason; then…

 

the greatest miracle of Jesus was: why would he come into the world?

 

If for Him this human being fails, only knows rebellious, ungrateful; then God can always kill all this human version and start all over again by creating human version 2.0.

 

Why did He want to come to earth just to help us?

 

Even more, Why did He want to come in the form of a baby?

 

This is even more miraculous: stranger, more astonishing, more unexplainable.

 

  • Couldn't God come miraculously on a horse-drawn carriage from heaven? 

  • Couldn't God come miraculously with 1000 angels accompanying?

 

Certainly He can! But why did He want to come in the form of a baby?

 

There is only one reason:

 

He wants to be easily approached, without fear, without hesitation, for us to approach a baby, approach a human, approach someone who knows what it feels like to be human.

 

He wants to be approachable to everyone He loves.

 

What a miracle he did! More miraculous than all His miracles was His first coming into this world as a baby.

 

 

 

#2  Miraculous Love

 

Psalm 17:7 (CEV)

“Show your wonderful love.… “

 

Often a person no longer wants to fulfill an agreement with someone because he becomes disappointed with his friend whom he promised to.

 

And because he was already disappointed, he no longer wanted to fulfill that previous promise.

 

Imagine if God do the same with us.  Whenever God are disappointed by us, He may just cancel all of His promises.

 

Imagine that !!!

 

  • Hey, Teddy sinned again. Hm ... tomorrow morning there will be no breath for you. 
  • Hey, Teddy failed again. Hm .. tomorrow there will be no new blessings for you.

 

Amazingly, wonderfully, our Lord Jesus is not like that. His loyal love is wonderful! What a surprise!

 

God’s faithfulness never depend on our actions. It only depends on His love.

 

And our failures that disappoint HIM, our deeds that disappoint HIM, do not make His loyal love fade away.

 

IT WAS MIRACULOUS TOO!

 

 

 

#3  Miraculous Teaching (Law)

 

Psalm  119:18, 129

“Open my mind  and let me discover  the wonders of your Law.”

 

“Your teachings are wonderful,  and I respect them all..”

 

 

His teaching is wonderful? What does it mean?

 

Isn't there a hymn about this? Do you still remember?

 

" Beautiful words, wonderful words, Wonderful words of life"

 

 

What is the wonderful of God's word?

 

God's Word can be a flashlight for our darkest hearts.

 

He can guide us in the right direction when we lose our direction in life.

 

He is able to change our lives from always bad to good life.

 

Hebrews 4:12 says that “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

 

God's Word is truly miraculous.  It has the power to give life to those who practice God's Word.
